Well, it was 12 degrees here in Kentucky today. This is the 8th day in a row with temperatures below freezing. We have about 3 inches of snow on the ground that won't be going anywhere until some time next week. It's very pretty, actually. I took a few pictures before the light faded completely. These are from the screen porch off the side of the house.
These are from the window in my 'studio' looking out the back, and over toward our neighbors with horses.Maybe tomorrow I'll venture out and get some better pictures of the snow. Perhaps I'll paint a winter landscape one of these short, cold days, and shake this need to hibernate until spring...
Nice photos. It was 12 this morning here (just north of Austin, Texas) but without the white stuff. And 4 months ago it was 108. Duh.
ReplyDeleteA winter wonderland! Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. We don't have the snow (yet) ;-) but our temps are really cold! Brrr
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be fun following your adventures in art! Glad I found your blog!
Wow, James! That's really cold for Austin. My mom grew up in Texas (Bangs) and said they got snow occasionally. The snow makes it a bit more bearable, only because it's so picturesque. My daughters and a friend went out at midnight, sledded down the hill into the woods (missing the trees, thankfully) and stayed out playing until 2 in the morning. I love that. Great memories for them, sledding in the moonlight!
ReplyDeleteOh, Rosemary...I so envy your winter retreat in Florida! And you really are getting some cold temperatures down there. Plant City and the frozen strawberry fields, icicles on the orange trees, sprinklers going all night...all over the news. Great memories for me, getting those 'cold snaps' once in a while. Thanks for stopping by my blog!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful scenery! I envy your view! :O)
ReplyDeleteThank you Teresa! It's nice to have a little 'country' in our lives. Every season is beautiful in this area; even winter, when we get that sugar frosting of snow on everything.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great looking place makes me want to visit snow.
ReplyDeleteI like to see snow once in a while, but not for long periods. LOL Can't wait to see some of your paintings of this...you've got some good reference material.
ReplyDeleteleann,
ReplyDeletethe cool climate is transmitted to me through these pictures...
ours is a place where the climate does not go to such extreme...
