This is the October challenge on Karin Jurick's Different Strokes From Different Folks blog. I wasn't thrilled with how this ended up for me. I struggled with straight lines, shadows, and color. It may look better framed. But I did it, and I'm sure I learned from it - you always do, when you do something quite out of your comfort zone.
Good job, Leann. And with that attitude, you'll just keep getting better and better.
ReplyDeleteLeAnn-It's GREAT!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you were very comfortable with this one, great composition and color choices.
ReplyDeleteThis is very nice. I like that you did the whole photo and it looks great.
ReplyDeleteYou may have felt out of your comfort zone with this subject, but you'd never know it by looking at your painting. It is excellent!
ReplyDeleteI disagree you seem to do well with straight line and shadow.
ReplyDeleteGood job on your entry.
Very nice LeAnn, like your colors!
ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie! There wasn't an element that I wanted to leave out - the sky at the top, or the tunnels at the bottom, along with all the angles, and shadows. It seemed to be a lot of different paintings all at the same time. Quite the challenge.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carol! I ended up with what I felt were flavors - lemon, blueberry, and butterscotch... maybe I should try painting food now...
ReplyDeleteClair! Thank you so much. I think I made it harder on myself by choosing such a small canvas. I realized that when I couldn't keep all the windows and buildings aligned. I'll know better next time.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ann. I almost gave up at one point, but my family wouldn't let me! haha...
ReplyDeleteBecky! Thank you! It felt great to finish it! haha..
ReplyDeleteThank you, Stephen! I feel like I'm back in school - by choice. I welcome any helpful comments on anything I post. It's a strange feeling, putting your work 'out there' for the world to see, but I'm sensing a very supportive community of artists, and look forward to seeing what you all are working on every day. Thanks to all of you for the encouragement!
ReplyDeleteThank you Dominique! Do, redo, do-over...and at some point, let it go. It will never be perfect, but then, what is? It's definitely a learning process!
