Cityscape 5"x7"

This is the October challenge on Karin Jurick's Different Strokes From Different Folks blog.  I wasn't thrilled with how this ended up for me.  I struggled with straight lines, shadows, and color.  It may look better framed.  But I did it, and I'm sure I learned from it - you always do, when you do something quite out of your comfort zone.

  4. You may have felt out of your comfort zone with this subject, but you'd never know it by looking at your painting. It is excellent!

  5. I disagree you seem to do well with straight line and shadow.
    Good job on your entry.

  6. Thanks Debbie! There wasn't an element that I wanted to leave out - the sky at the top, or the tunnels at the bottom, along with all the angles, and shadows. It seemed to be a lot of different paintings all at the same time. Quite the challenge.

  7. Thank you Carol! I ended up with what I felt were flavors - lemon, blueberry, and butterscotch... maybe I should try painting food now...

  8. Clair! Thank you so much. I think I made it harder on myself by choosing such a small canvas. I realized that when I couldn't keep all the windows and buildings aligned. I'll know better next time.

  11. Thank you, Stephen! I feel like I'm back in school - by choice. I welcome any helpful comments on anything I post. It's a strange feeling, putting your work 'out there' for the world to see, but I'm sensing a very supportive community of artists, and look forward to seeing what you all are working on every day. Thanks to all of you for the encouragement!

  12. Thank you Dominique! Do, redo, do-over...and at some point, let it go. It will never be perfect, but then, what is? It's definitely a learning process!
